  Implementation of Integrated Tribal
Development Fund (TDF) Project of NABARD

National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) has special approach for the development of the tribal population through Tribal Development Fund (TDF). The project aimed to develop the tribal area through intervention of various aspects of livelihood especially WADI based action. Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) has been chosen by NABARD for implementing the project in Tripura. VHAT has been implementing Tribal Development Fund Project in Bhagaban Choudhury Para, Sambhuram Para, Abhicharan Para and Birmohan ADC Villages of Mohanpur RD Block, West Tripura District, Tripura State, since July 2012.

Objective of the project:
i) Improve income generation of the selected beneficiaries by involving them in the horticulture / agricultural practice
ii) Promote environmental status and ensure sustainable development through horticulture development.
iii) Improve health status of the people through awareness and providing health care services
iv) Appropriate utilization of the natural resources like land and water along with manpower in the identified villages, through participatory approach.
v) Increased participation of women in the development process, through formation of SHGs and economic empowerment.

Detailed Intervention during the year:
Developed 40 acre of Horticulture WADI with fruit plants of Mango, Guava, Papaya,Banana, Lemon etc.
Developed 10 acre of Forest WADI covering 17 beneficiaries of four project villages.
2 (two) Rain Water Harvesting Tanks has been constructed in project area.
13 (Thirteen) small water ponds were created/renovated for irrigation purpose during the critical period.
4(four) community meetings was conducted with the beneficiaries.
Enrolled 5 (five) youth of the project area for vocational courses.
40 (forty) vermicompost tank was constructed for producing organic manure.

Community Participation :
The involvement of community for implementation of any development project is the key concern to success .Tribal Development project is one of such project where involvement of community is very important. From the begining VHAT has been working extensively with the beneficiaries of the project area. The regular field visit, on site monitoring of the project is common agenda for Integrated Tribal Development Fund (TDF) project.
