  VHAT EYE HOSPITAL
.

VHAT has been implementing this project since 2002. Services include- running OPD in the base hospital ,screening and treatment camps in remote rural areas, selection of surgical cases , transporting the patients to the base hospital for cataract and other eye surgery, organising awareness meetings for prevention of blindness, distribution of vitamin A, organising school screening camps and referral service to the other service providing institutions as and when necessary. Persons with disabilities generally face several barriers-physical, financial, psychological in leading a life with dignity and independence

Situation is worse in case of elderly poors. Statistical report of Tripura shows that at least 2% of total population are suffering from cataract of which most of them are elderly people who need medical intervention to prevent permanent blindness.
