  ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Promotion of environment and protection of forest is one of the core activities in which Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) has been associated since its inception. National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) programme has been implemented by Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF), Govt. of India and VHAT is one of the organizations in Tripura to participate in every year with other stakeholders. In the year of 2012-13, VHAT had participated with Awareness Programme on Protection of Environment and Bio-diversity and maintaining Bio- diversity Register.

Particulars of activities:
1. One day Awareness Programme on Protection of Environment and Bio-diversity: Awareness Programme was conducted on 3rd February 2013 in the Anganwari Centre of Bhagwan Choudhury Para ADC village of Lefunga Sub-Block to generate awareness of the SHG members, farmers, youths etc. In total 42 participants were gathered in the awareness program. The discussion points are as follows:

· The basic thought of environment and its impact on human life
· Protection of forest and its importance
· Concept of Bio-diversity conservation
· Effect of Bio-Diversity in our day to day life
· Discussion on locally available flora & fauna and their values

During the interaction session participants also share their understanding with the resource persons. Shri Sujit Ghosh, Assistant Director of VHAT and Shri Ajit Sharma, Consultant, DVBDCP, Dhalai, both were present as resource persons to enhance the quality of the programme and delivered the session to the participants.

2. Preparation of Bio-Diversity Register:
Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) also prepared one Bio-Diversity Register in Bhagwan Choudhury Para. Field staff of VHAT with active guide of our resource persons, the Bio-Diversity Register was completed. The register had submitted to Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB).
