  VHAT CARE GIVERS CELL

VHAT Care Givers Cell (CGC) conducted care givers training under Sahyogi Scheme of National Trust (it is a social model of disability welfare programme for Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disability). The scheme provided good quality training to the interested persons for Care Giving jobs. Under the programme of Empowerment of PWDs (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disability ) Voluntary Health Association of Tripura formed a Care Giver Cell (CGC) after being trained by the National Trust. CGC is responsible for imparting 25 days in house training course and four month job oriented training to the Care Givers.

Course Contents :
1. Value of Care Giving.

2. PWDs rights as per UNCRPD declaration.

3. Needs of persons with disability.

4. Kinds of barriers, being ability focused.

5. Trust building and family relationship.

6. Care Giving process and effective care giving.

7. Protect dignity, control, togetherness.

8. PWDs rights and helping process.

9. Challenges faced by the Care Givers and how to manage them.

10. Support available to Care Givers and rights of Care Givers.

11. Understanding the Care Seekers.


Practical Orientation :
n Safety and risk assessment, nChecklist of Skill area, n Skill of listening, n Skill for shearing information, n Communication, nSupporting Movement, n Supporting people in maintaining the personal care with activities of daily living and feeding techniques.

Major Achievement :
VHAT conducted training for two batches of Care Givers in 2012-2013.This year we conducted the training for fourth batch of 13 Care Givers from 14th November 2012 to 13 April, 2013. The certificate would be given to the trainees by the National Trust.
