  Promotion of Employment opportunities throuh Capacity Building Training to the Marginalized Youths of Tripura

Voluntary Health Association of Tripura with support from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (Mo DoNER) conducted the project,“Promotion of Employment Opportunities through Capacity Building Training to the Marginalized Youths and Women of Tripura”. The activities of the project were to provide the vocational trainings to the unemployed youths on four courses as per NIOS and one course as per National Trust guidelines which were as follows:-

A) Courses as per accreditation for VHAT by NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), Govt. of India:
i) Certificate course in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE)
ii) Certificate course in Community Health
iii) Certificate course on Homoeopathic Dispensing
iv) Certificate course on Care of Elderly

B) Course under the National Trust for the welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation & Multiple Disabilities (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India)

i) Certificate course in Community Based Care for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
VHAT started the dissemination of the information for collection of students through its organizational networks in April 2011 and also published the information in two leading Daily News Paper (Dainik Sambad & Daily Desher Katha) in the first week of June, 2011. Admission of students started in June, 2011.
From July 2011, the classes of all the courses started. VHAT provided the food and accommodation for all the students during attending the classes.
Total hours of classes including practical, was 400 hrs for each course of NIOS. After the completion of theoretical training with some practical classes for the course on Community Based Care for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) under National Trust the field practice (apprenticeship) with the respective Care Seeker would be continued till April 2012. Care Seeker is the person with disability who would get the service of the Care Giver. During this period the Resource Person of VHAT (Mr. Jyotirmoy Majumder) would visit the field of each trainee to give them practical demonstration of giving the care to the Person with Disabilities.

Outcome of the training:The theoretical examination of these courses would be hald in May 2012. The Faculy Members of these courses were-Prof(Dr) Dilip Kumar Ray, M.Sc., PhD (Physiology), Ms. Jayanti Deb, Paramedics & Ophthalmic Assistant, Dr. Anwesha Ray, MBBS, Mr. Jyotirmoy Majumder, M.A., DSE-MR, Dr. Sreelekha Ray, B.Sc., DMS(Homoeopathy), Dr.Prasanta Kumar Dey, DMS, Mr. Ajit Sarma, M.Sc.and Mr. Dipankar Deb, Physio-Therapist.
Most of the students passed the courses within December 2012. Almost 70 % of the passed students got jobs so far.
