  ANWESHA CHILD PROTECTION CENTRE

Anwesha Child Protection Centre is a Open Shelter Home for the children in crisis, registered under Social Welfare Department as per ICPS under Ministry of Women and Child Development. Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) has been running this home since April 2005. In 2008-09 we internally divided the home in to two sections - Anwesha section for girls and Unmesh section for boys.

From its inception, Anwesha home has been running mostly with individual support. In 2012-2013 we received partial support from Association for Indian’s Development (AID) for Unmesh part, Give India (for Anwesha) for food, uniform and medical support. In February 2013, we signed an agreement with Miracle Foundation for nine months incubation support for Anwesha home. On an average 55 children are staying in Anwesha. but the number sometimes increased as the children came for temporary shelter like rescued missing child or any child in temporary crisis situation.

Purpose:
To provide basic facilities like shelter, nutrition, education, recreation, medicare support and life skill development of the orphaned and underprivileged children.

Target Group:
Children of age group between 6-18 of the following category are the target group of the project :
· Orphaned Children · Street children, rag pickers, victims of addiction · Children rejected by the parents especially the father · Abandoned child. · Victims of violence · Victim of insurgency · Missing child who will be sent to her/his family through a proper process · Any child eligible for getting emergency services

Major Achievements in 2012-2013 :

Shelter and nutrition: Regular shelter for 55 children and short term shelter for 06 children.

Education : Out of 55 children 11 children are in pre- primary class and other 44 children are studying in nearby government schools from class I to X.

Medical Support: To all 55 children.
Quarterly Health Checkup and treatment.
Quarterly hemoglobin test and dental check up.
Hearing test.
Treatment of severe symptoms like retinal detachment (eye), incontinence of urine (Kidney problem).
Emergency medical help.

Legal Registration : This home is registered as Open Shelter Home under Social Welfare Department as per ICPS under Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Monitoring & Evaluation : This was done regularly by the Executive Director and Assistant Director of VHAT. Periodical evaluation was done by Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of VHAT.
